The pagoda was one of the five initial monasteries to be built in Phnom Penh, way back in the year 1422 during the reign of Ponhea Yat. Before 1974, it housed over 500 Buddhist monks and also the library of the Buddhist Institute which had a collection of over 30,000 titles. One of highlights of the pagoda is the image of Samdech Huot Tat placed at the main pagoda’s northeast corner – the fourth Buddhist patriarch who was executed during the Pol Pot era. Phsar Toul Tum Poung

Phsar Toul Tum Poung (also known as Russian market) is located in the south part of Phnom Penh and is the most popular market to visit among foreign tourists. Almost foreign tourists visit the market to find souvenirs for their family and friends. The reason why it is called Russian market is because of its popularity among Russian expatriates during the 1980s.

Wat Phnom

Wat Phnom, one of wonderful places on list of what to visit in Phnom Penh is located in the northern part of Phnom Penh, near the Tonle Sap River. It was constructed on 88-foot-tall mound overlooking the city in 1373 and is the tallest and most important temple in Phnom Penh.
