Buddha Park: A must-see site in Vientiane
Have you ever posed a question that “Is there a park which houses a lot of religious statues exist in this world?” The answer is yes! The park I mentioned above is the Buddha Park in Vientiane. This park is a famous sculpture park with more than 200 religious statues including a huge 40 meter high Reclining Buddha image.
The unique park with special religious statues
Built in 1958 by Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat, a monk who studied both Buddhism and Hinduism, the Buddha Park contains Buddha statues, Hindu god statues as well as demons and animals from both beliefs.
The outstanding point of the Buddha Park is a pumpkin-like structure that you can go through a demon’s mouth and climb up the three stories which represent heaven, earth and hell. You can enjoy the great views over the entire park in the top of it. Visit Vientiane with Indochina tours Laos

After walking around, contemplating the stunning views what will we do next?
There is a local restaurant and coffee shop at the end of the park right next to the Mekong River that makes a great spot to relax after all the walking and climbing. Sitting here, drinking cold Laos beer, tasting the famous food in Lao named papaya salad and enjoy the soft wind will be an interesting experience you ever have.
How to get there?
There are various ways to go this destination, however the three following ways are the most popular:
– Although the park is 25km from Vientiane, it is not far from the Friendship Bridge border crossing to Thailand, therefore, you could visit it when you are on the way to Thailand.
– Another choice is that you can hire a motorbike for 70000 Kip for the day. It takes about an hour drive there from Vientiane.
– Last but not least, you could also take the no 14 bus to the Friendship Bridge and then take a tuktuk from there.
