PHI PHI – THE ISLAND – SUPERSTAR OF THAILAND
Have you ever known about our island – superstar Phi Phi? Phi Phi was in the movies. It had been picked as the location of movie ‘The Beach’ featuring the famous actor – Leonardo Di Caprio, which also has become the topic of conversation for travelers all over Travel to Thailand. Although the beach looks a little bit different from the movie and has been affected by tsunami in 2007, it is still stunning and attracts the vast number of tourists every year. Climb the caverns on the back of the island or arrive by boat through the bay, you will understand why the washed-up characters chose it to escape the hustle and bustle of the modern-life.
Phi Phi Island is one of the most idyllic destinations in the world with featuring warm azure waters and soft white sand, located in Thailand between the large island of Phuket and the western Strait of Malacca coast of the mainland. Phi Phi Island comprises of six small islands 46km south of Phuket. The harmonious combination of fine sandy beaches giving way to soaring limestone cliffs, crystal clear water, a refreshing lack of roads and plus a laid-back lifestyle form breathtaking scenery, and it is easily understandable why Phi Phi is one of southern Thailand’s most well-known locations.
The visitors can only access to the Island by ferries and speedboats and book on an hourly basis. Whereas the former takes 90 minutes the latter 45 minutes. Here the visitors have an opportunity for witnessing sheer limestone walls dotted with caves, passages the island’s shallow blue-green lagoons and coral gardens being a snorkeler’s paradise.
Phi Phi Island is also prominent in its entertainment activities such as climbing, massaging, diving, etc. Maybe the diving on Phi Phi is truly world class and one of the most fascinating things in Thailand – is very reasonably priced. Most of the larger Phi Phi resorts have their own dive shop and instructors, and for those who do not SCUBA, snorkeling is just as rewarding. Besides, in relation to cuisine, visitors can enjoy fresh seafood, authentic local Thai food and some great international favorites as well.
