From the center of Battambang, a rocky road led us to a stopping point of bamboo train. It was an abandoned house with a big yard full of bizarre bamboo trains that we never ever seen before. That place was just one of total 14 “official stations” of this kind of train and you can catch a bamboo train from almost anywhere. “8 USD for a tour, okay?” a local bamboo train’s owner said to us. It is the most rudimentary vehicle I have seen in my life, I can even say that bamboo train in Battambang cannot be more rudimentary: a large bamboo raft, as big as around 5 m2 which was assembled from smaller bamboo bars and then placed on two iron bars with 4 wheels and a small generator used to run the train

At the very beginning, it was a little bit scary because you could see the kinks in the track and the speed that it was going on such a fragile setup. However, gentle breezes make the heat of 35 degree celsius in Cambodian northwest region somewhat subdued. On the train, you can see small villages with green grasslands and cow herd or small cowboys with laughing happily together. Tours in Cambodia

As there is only one track but there are almost 50 bamboo trains in Battambang so you might see two trains encounter each other. In this situation, the solution is very simple, the one that carrying less passengers will be carried out the track and then carried in again after the other one already moved

It takes around an hour to ride on the train, depending on the number of times you have to stop for people coming in the other direction. Travel on a bamboo train is a fun way to admire the countryside around the city. It is enjoyable at any time of year and the best time to try this activity is perhaps after the rainy season when the rice fields are green rather than brown but.
