Water puppetry which originated in the Red River Delta in the 11th century is among the traditional art of Vietnam. The puppets are made of wood and are controlled by the puppeteers in a waist-deep pool. Almost all water puppet performances are based on traditional stories which tell about daily life of Vietnamese farmers in the old time.
