This 7-day Northwest Vietnam tour suits travelers who want to go beyond the usual tourist routes and spend time with ethnic minority communities. DAY 01: HANOI – MAI CHAU

After breakfast and check out of the hotel at 8.00 a.m., your guide, and driver will pick you up and drive along the scenic and rural landscape highway 6 to Mai Chau – a small town nestled in the midst of a lush valley surrounded by green rice fields and best ever friendly people.

On the way, we’ll stop along to visit the Muong tribe and then at Thung Khe Pass for a spectacular view Mai Chau Valley has to offer. This promises to be an off-the-beaten-track experience that immerses you in the rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty of Vietnam.

Upon arrival, lunch will be served by a local host family in Mai Chau.

Followed by a beautiful hike along the dirt paths to walk through terraced rice paddies and small villages to discover the natural beauty of the valley and encounter the culture of the White Thai inhabitants who live in the region.

You will have a chance to explore their culture and satisfy your curiosity about local daily life.

Early evening to relax at leisure a bit before having dinner with the family and enjoying local traditional dances with live music performance.

DAY 02: MAI CHAU – SONLA – DIEN BIEN PHU

Start the day with a simple breakfast with tea or coffee, then say goodbye to your host at Mai Chau and we’ll drive off to Son La, which captivates visitors with its majestic mountains, lush forests, and a rich tapestry of ethnic diversity.

Stop will be made en-route many a time to visit villages of various tribes, including H’mong, Thai, Muong, and Dzao. Don’t miss opportunities to learn about their unique culture. The colorful clothes with their friendly hospitality absolutely make you surprised.

Your drive will pass many lust orchards and tea farms in the Moc Chau plateau before reaching Son La for a late lunch.

In the afternoon, we continue our drive along winding mountain roads in the most North Vietnam’s stunning countryside, including the most well-known and historic Pha Din Pass. A scenic journey through winding roads, misty landscapes, and terraced rice fields provides a memorable adventure for travelers

Then, stop on top of the Pha Din for a breathtaking view and photo shooting opportunity.

On arrival, check-in at your hotel, and the balance of the day is at leisure

The attractions of Northwest

DAY 03: DIEN BIEN PHU – LAI CHAU – PHONG THO

After breakfast, we start the day with a visit to the local market, where you will meet charming Thai tribes in their traditional costume and purchase their farm products.

Continue our visit to the Dien Bien Phu Museum, A1 Hill, and the War Cemetery of Dien Bien Phu with the nearby General De Castries’s Bunker, Old Muong Thanh Bridge, and Nam Rom River. Nestled in a heart-shaped basin near the border with Laos lies Dien Bien Phu, the famous historical battleground that put an end to the French colonial occupation in 1954.

After lunch in a local restaurant, we continue our way to Lai Chau along a dancing but rewarding road with a chance to know a variety of ethnic villages such as Kho Mu (Xa), Huoi Chan, Dzao, etc.

We drive further to Phong Tho on scenic roads with picturesque views, dotted with ethnic villages of Thai, Kho Mu, and H’mong minorities.

Arrive in Phong Tho and spend the rest of the day cycling around the township or to some vicinity villages.

DAY 04: PHONG THO – SAPA

Today morning, we check out and leave Phong Tho for Sapa. We might experience some little bumpy roads but such a rewarded one for magnificent sceneries, valley views, and colors of jungles along the way. The rest stop will be made when we drive up Tram Ton pass which offers views to Fansipan Peak, aka “Indochinas rooftop” and a visit to the nearby Heaven’s Gate and the Silver Waterfall.

Upon arrival in Sapa in the afternoon, check-in at your hotel and sometimes at leisure until our guide takes you out for dinner in this lovely and aged old French colonial town has to offer.

DAY 05: SAPA – LAOCHAI - TAVAN

After breakfast in the hotel, you will explore Sapa’s daily wet market and then set out on our 3-4 hour trek down to Muong Hoa Valley, travel through the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van, home to H’mong and Dzay people.

A great experience is awaited when you walk through pine forests, and terraced rice paddies and meet with minority villagers while enjoying the amazing and breathtaking views from the surrounding valleys.

Picnic lunch will be served at the end of the walk or in a local restaurant in Sapa town.

The rest of the day will be balanced at your leisure.

DAY 06: SAPA FREE & EASY

Your free and easy day to explore hidden gems in Sapa town and the local market. Don’t miss a chance to try Sapa’s specialities and off the beaten track with various experience from locals.

Day 07: SAPA - HANOI

After breakfast at the hotel, you will leave Sapa by the new beautiful highway back to Hanoi. The drive will be just about 5 hours but through many rural beautiful countryside as the landscape changes from arching mountains to the flat plains of the Red River delta.

Arrive in Hanoi in the early afternoon and check in your hotel. End of services.
