Itinerary

This 5-day Ha Giang tour takes you to Vietnam’s remote northern mountains near the Chinese border, where the roads are challenging but the scenery is some of the best in the country. You’ll travel by private vehicle with a driver experienced in mountain driving, and visit ethnic minority villages where tourism is still relatively new. This region appeals to travelers who want authentic experiences and don’t mind trading comfort for access to less-visited areas.

Ha Giang requires realistic expectations. The drives are long with hairpin turns and cliff edges – spectacular but not relaxing. Accommodations are basic with simple meals, and some villages have limited electricity and no hot water. You’ll meet Hmong, Tay, and Dao families, shop at local markets, and see landscapes that look like they haven’t changed in centuries. If you value unspoiled nature and cultural authenticity over amenities, this works. Need to know more about road conditions or accommodation standards?
