My brother and I try to always ‘go local’ with companies when we travel. Experience has taught us that they simply have the ‘on the ground experience’ and after much research, I found the reviews for Indochina Voyages very encouraging. We are both well-seasoned travelers yet, only had one week available with the hope of seeing the highlights of Vietnam, as first time visitors.
So, with limited time on our hands we liaised with Tham, the Indochina Voyages Rep who was quite exceptional in her ability to quickly and effectively set up our day tours during our fast-track through this captivating country. Her proficiency in English, both written and spoken, made communication of our ideas and plans very easy.
Not be missed:
(1) A full day tour Hanoi’s highlight sites ending with a food on foot tour. Note: that they will keep ordering, as long as you can keep eating! (2) A luxury boat tour of Halong bay, which in my years of travelling has to be one of the most breath-taking experiences to date. (3) A day in the ancient town of Hoi An being led through the cooking process; visiting local vegetable growers by bicycle and then the market. This followed by our own cooking class before a guided tour on foot of the city. (4) Ho Chi Min (‘Saigon’) and the Chu Chi tunnels. Do not miss the ‘Saigon after dark experience’ as a passenger on a Vespa! Absolutely great fun! (5) Mekong Delta day cruise, where you will witness first-hand the traditional and sustainable life of the locals.

Me and my wife traveled to Vietnam with the help of Ms Quyen from Indochina vogayes in January 2015. We really couldn’t fault any of their service. Our guides in HCMC, Hoi An and Hanoi were excellent. We were also kept updated throughout our tour by Ms Quyen. She even spared her time to meet us and showed us around Hanoi’s best foodstall on our last night in Hanoi. She was also patient enough to attend to our changing requests. It was really a breeze from start to finish. Her choices of our accommodation and sightseeing places were also immaculate.
One more thing to note is that we really loved our guide in HCMC. His name is Tom. He is such a friendly and open person. He is always concerned about our tour satisfaction and he continually made sure that our needs were attended to. We even went to his house and learnt his family history.
This trip really is an enjoyable, professional and indeed unforgettable. Well done Indochina voyages. Keep up the good work. And btw, cannot wait for our next trip with them to Laos.

I have had my first encounter with Indo China Voyages since our first trip to Hanoi in 2010. Knowing little about the country and places of interest I sought out from Tripadviser who is a good and trustworthy travel agent – this I found Indo China Voyages very well praised for services and reasonable price. During my first personal trip the owner Tim personally liaised with us to plan out our trip. I was very impressed that he was the personal guide of President Carter when he visited. Overall it was an excellent arrangements and suggestions and what I like about Tim is he listens. In every trip there could be hiccups such as food not according to our liking which is hard for the travel consultant to phantom – one man’s meat is another man’s poison. Because he arranged great accommodation and nice clean and new SUV for our trip, I trusted him and engaged him for four more group trips of more than 10 persons each time – we chartered the Violet Cruise three times, went up to Sapa by deluxe overnite coach and trip to Danang, Hue and Hoi An. Each time we left to him to work out our itineraries and hotels. Many a times I had wanted to spend more on what I thought were better hotels but Tim was always very assuring that the cheaper hotels he recommended were better and yes, he was right. I always feel safe using Indo China Voyages because Tim is always on hand to make sure things go right even though we deal with his staff directly. I have often referred Indo China Voyages to clients and friends who expressed their gratitude for our recommendations.
Tim remembers well that I am a gourmet and therefore would not bundle food in our package so he ensured we were taken to some of the best restaurants in all our destinations, from the very simple stalls to 5 Stars hotels. Yes there are times where the guides could have performed better and I did tell him that and he took care of it immediately. I feel sad for some of the bad experience of traveller from Jersey but I am not sure whether is the question of perception and expectations because the West and Asia functions rather differently. As an Asian I am more accommodating perhaps because I understand how things work in Asia. We are still growing and learning and I am truly vouch that Tim is one such guy who listens and constantly improves. Yes I will continue to travel with him to other part of Indo China since they are the Indo China experts.

We travelled from Ireland all three of us in January 2015.
We were meet by our Guide Tuan and whisked away in private transport. We had arranged to visit North and South Vietnam especially the Mekong and Saigon also DeLath, where they grow lots of their fruit and vegetables.
We can only say that our accommodation, tours, expert english speaking entertaining guides, who provided us with bottled water and snacks, gave us a wonderful first visit to this wonderful country and its people. Our drivers were excellent and always punctual.
We also took internal domestic flights and all our tickets, accommodation and transport was arranged just as we wanted it – this was a holiday with no dissappointments, just perfect timing and wonderful service.
We also had a wonderful experience at an organic farm where we had a day at cookery school. This was just wonderful.
There is so much more to visit and see that we will be back. I have to say also that we priced other travel agencies and found that Indochina Voyages gave us the best options and also were agreeable to change our plans accordingly when we were in Vietnam.
We will be back………. hotel and bed & breakfast accommodation was perfect so to are the people. They work very hard to make every visitor welcome and how I long for the Chicken Noodle Soup.
We were very lucky to have a wondeful evening in a Vietnameese home with their home cooked food and entertainment. What a treat.
